FAQ
How long should a fireworks display last?
It depends on the reason for the display. In our experience if the display is the main event then a minimum of 20 minutes will give the crowd plenty to see, if the display is only a part of the entertainment then the content can be scaled down proportionately.
How much does a display cost?
Display costs vary considerably, from a short but fast paced display, (some companies provide a 2 minute display for under £200.00 however some companies have minimum charges which start at £2000.00) to a large annual event costing many thousands of pounds.
What fireworks can I buy?
Fireworks are graded into 4 categories:
Cat 1, these are indoor fireworks and as such can be bought by anybody.
Cat 2, garden fireworks with typically a 5 metre fallout zone, again these can be bought by any member of the public.
Cat 3, display fireworks with a safety zone of 25 metres, most of the fireworks bought by the public falls into this category. It is important to realise how far 25 metres actually is.
Cat 4, strictly for professional use only, these fireworks are not allowed to be sold to or used by the general public.
Can I let fireworks off all year round?
You can let them off all year round but should note that except for certain times of the year fireworks must not be set off after 11pm.
Can I buy some of the big rockets that I see at large displays?
Most of what you think are big rockets are actually aerial shells which are fired from a mortar, these are not available to the public.
Do fireworks have to be noisy?
Most display companies are now able to do quieter displays. It should be noted however, that there is no such thing as a silent firework.
How does the weather effect fireworks?
Whist setting up we make sure that the fireworks are as waterproofed as possible, covers and tarpaulins are used to keep the rain and damp out. Wind however causes major problems and we always reserve the right to withdraw items from a show if they could cause danger to either people or structures.
Can I do it myself?
Yes of course but you cannot buy the larger fireworks that make a professional display so magical.
