Everywhere you turn, everything you read, and almost everyone you speak to these days has picked up on it. The new buzzphrase for 2009 seems to be ‘Social Media Marketing’. It’s almost as if it came from nowhere – ‘experts’ are springing up, and every man and his dog is being told that they need to take part, or pay someone to do it for them.

You should be using Tweetdeck if you want to make sense of Twitter!
Having spoken to lots of people about Twitter, I realise that the first impression most people get is of the Twitter website.
If they’ve spoken to someone like me, they’ll have probably looked at my Twitter page, realised how confusing it looks and gone away pretty quickly.
“I don’t get it” they say … “It’s all messy” they say…. “It makes no sense” they say – and do you know what? They’re right!
I don’t understand how anyone manages to cope with Twitter – especially if they ‘follow’ more than a handful of people.
Tip #52 – Fresh fields
Google and other search engines simply love sites that are regularly updated.
Don’t just put up a 5 page brochure ware site and expect that you’ll be at number one in no time and stay there.
The sites that are spidered most by Google are the ones that regularly add content and get updated.
Clients say to me all the time ‘But we have nothing to add to our site – that’s all there is’.
And you might be thinking that right now.
But I doubt it’s true – there is ALWAYS something you can add to your website:
