Tip #23 – The longer the better

Date: 9th September 2008
Comments: 1 Related Categories: Key Phrases

If you’re stuck for pages to optimise, it’s better to use the longer versions of your keyphrase than the shorter.

So for example instead of using ‘gift hamper’ use ‘gift hampers’, instead of ‘clean carpets’ use ‘cleaning carpets’ etc.

If someone searches for the shorter version (gift hamper or clean carpets) they have a good chance of finding you.

If, on the other hand, you optimised for the shorter version, then people searching for the longer version would have no chance of finding you at all.

    Hi Nikki:

I just want to let you know that your 299 tips are the best. I like them because I can choose one little thing, do that for my site, and know that I’ve improved it just a bit. Much better than a whole laundry list of things to do – too overwhelming!

Take care, me dear and keep up the great work!
