“Yahoo has filed a patent application in which it takes into account design features in helping it come to a conclusion about where it should place a web site in search results. The aim is to take into account the usability of a web page, presumably so that the results Yahoo provides can meet the widest range of people, including those with disabilities that make some web sites unusable for them,”

Tip #100- Rapid response

Read blogs relating to your industry on a regular basis, and if possible leave a comment.

Along with this comment, leave a link to your own website or blog.

Now, in a lot of cases this isn’t going to help with your search engine listings, as a lot of blogs have a ‘no follow’ tag (where search engine spiders don’t actually follow the links in comments.

So why bother?

Because other people will be reading the same blog and could be your potential customers – they may follow your link and sign up to your newsletter, read your articles, subscribe to your blog etc. And eventually they could become a client or customer.

Tip #232 - What’s in a name?

We know it’s all about getting the keywords and phrases into the site wherever and whenever we can, without overdoing it.
One way of adding keywords is to save media files, pdf files, image files etc with keyword rich names.

E.g. www.mysite.com/audio/my-keyphrase.mp3

I’ve been testing this with client websites recently and have seen a definite improvement in results.
